Description of the Kestrel 5700 Elite
The Kestrel 5700 Elite Weather Meter comes complete with the Applied Ballistics Elite software solution as well as Litz's custom drag models for more than 400 balls. This, combined with very precise measurements of the speed, direction and density of the Kestrelair, provides unparalleled altitude and wind solutions for the accuracy of long-range fire.
The free LiNK Kestrel ballistics app lets you create and manage your weapons and bullet profiles and upload them to your 5700 Elite Kestrel so you're perfectly prepared before shooting. Choose from Litz's extensive library of custom bullet drag models for the most accurate transsonic and subsonic remote shooter solutions available.
Combine the Kestrel 5700 Elite with the Kestrel Vane Mount and the Kestrel Mini Tripod and you get a stand-alone ballistics surveillance solution that you can position on the range. Use the app to quickly adjust the target's distance and visualize the shooting solution and wind rose without leaving your shooting position. The LiNK ballistics app even allows you to set up multiple targets for viewing on a single screen. A professional weather and ballistics solution while you're shooting.
There are two versions of the Kestrel 5700 Elite:
- With the standard 5700 Elite Kestrel , data can be transferred using the K5000 USB data transfer cable (sold separately) to a Windows/Mac device. The free ballistics app Kestrel LiNK will allow you to view and store all the data
- The Kestrel 5500FW LiNK version has Bluetooth connectivity that allows you to transfer wireless data to an iOS device (iPhone, iPad) or an Android smartphone or tablet when it's within range using the appropriate Kestrel LiNK ballistics app. You can also transfer wireless data to a Windows or Mac computer using the USB dongle Kestrel Bluetooth (sold separately). Data can be viewed live on the app up to a distance of 100 feet (line of sight)
- LiNK-compatible units can also be wirelessly paired with LiNK-compatible laser rangefinders, such as the Elite 1 Mile CONX Bushnell , to seamlessly integrate target data into the ballistics solution for unmatched speed and accuracy.
The Kestrel 5700 Elite is designed and built to withstand the harsh treatment it will receive on the range or in military applications. The device comes as standard with a five-year warranty and a certificate of compliance.
What are custom drag profiles and how do they compare to the G1 and G7 profiles?
For many years, Applied Ballistics has been providing custom drag models for predicting trajectories. Custom drag models (CDMs) for bullets are a more refined way of modeling bullet drag. They use the actual measured drag of a specific bullet in a ballistic solver, which allows for more accurate trajectory forecasts, especially when they are transsonic.
Ongoing research and testing in the field of applied ballistics has redefined the art of modeling aerodynamic ball drag, reducing uncertainty and continually improving accuracy. Custom Drag Models (CDM) for more than 500 balls are available in the Applied Ballistics library.
